Lake Forest Splits MWC South Division Matches
Foresters fall to Grinnell, defeat Illinois College

GRINNELL, IA - The Forester men’s tennis team traveled to Grinnell College Saturday (April 2) and returned with a split against fellow Midwest Conference South Division foes. Lake Forest fell 7-0 to host Grinnell in the morning and knocked off Illinois College 6-1 in the afternoon. The Foresters are now 1-6 overall this season and 1-1 in divisional play.

After being blanked by the Pioneers, individual Foresters were victorious at number two doubles as well as numbers two, three, four, and five singles. The Blueboys also forfeited matches at number three doubles and number six singles.

Juniors Rob Burda (Meridian, ID/Meridian) and Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) each won twice in the match. The duo prevailed 8-3 at number two doubles, Burda claimed a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number four singles, and Bienia triumphed 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) at number five. Junior Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) also outlasted his opponent 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 at number two singles and sophomore Alex Godin (Northbrook, IL/Glenbrook North) won 6-1, 6-2 at number three.

The Foresters will host Rockford College at 4:00 Friday (April 8) afternoon and both the Milwaukee School of Engineering (9:00 a.m.) and Aurora University (3:00 p.m.) on Sunday (April 10).
