Sophomore won six of eight matches on the week

Rob Burda helped the Foresters to a 3-1 record in the MWC South Division.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College tennis player Robert Burda (Meridian, ID/Meridian) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday after he went 3-1 in both singles and doubles, helping his squad to an identical record for the week and a berth in the four-team Midwest Conference Team Championship Tournament on Friday, April 23. The sophomore played number three singles and number two doubles in each of the four matches.

In the Foresters' 7-0 blanking of the Milwaukee School of Engineering (April 15), Burda defeated David Grassl 6-4, 6-3 and teamed with Michael Jolly in an 8-4 victory over Grassl and Brandon Erts.

A 6-1 triumph over Midwest Conference foe Monmouth College (April 17) was enough to earn a trip to Madison, Wisconsin, for the team tournament. Burda did his part by beating Scott Flynn 6-2, 6-3 in singles and the team of Flynn and Dan Schultz 8-3 in doubles, again with Michael Jolly.

Burda contributed to the Foresters' 5-2 win over Aurora University with a 6-4, 6-3 singles victory over Shawn Muskoven. He and Jolly then routed Muskoven and Cole Guetschow 8-0.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
