Lake Forest Prevails 7-2 at Carroll University

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Forester men's tennis team won 7-2 at Carroll University on Wednesday (April 22). Lake Forest is now 8-4 on the season while the Pioneers fell to 8-8.

The Foresters won two of three doubles matches to begin the contest. Sophomore Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and senior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) posted a 9-7 victory at #2 and junior Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) teamed with sophomore Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) for an 8-1 triumph at #3.

Lake Forest also lost just once in singles. Junior Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) took the first set 6-4 before Carroll's top player retired and Flaksman won both sets at #2 by the same 6-1 score. Campagna knocked off his opponent 6-4, 6-1 at #4, Paterakos prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at #5, and freshman Nick Cantor (Providence, R.I./Wheeler School) recorded a come-from-behind 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory at #6.

The team will competing for a spot in the four-team Midwest Conference Championship Tournament on the road this Saturday (April 25). Lake Forest will play at Monmouth College at 9:00 in the morning and at Knox College at 1:00 p.m. Knox will also host Monmouth after the Foresters and the team that wins twice on the day will qualify for the tournament.
