Foresters Defeat Aurora, Finish Regular Season 9-9
Players will compete at MWC Tourney this weekend

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men's tennis team completed its regular season schedule with a 6-1 triumph at home over Aurora University on Wednesday (April 23). The victory gave the team a final record of 9-9, its best in three years.

Lake Forest won five of the six singles matches in convincing fashion.

Freshman Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) defeated Aurora's Shawn Muskoven 6-0, 6-2 at number one to reach the .500-mark (9-9) on the season.

At number two, sophomore Alex Pukshansky (Buffalo Grove, IL/Stevenson) knocked off Mark Chayka 6-1, 6-0. Pukshansky is now 2-2 at number two this year.

The Foresters' number four player, freshman Rob Burda (Meridian, ID/Meridian), earned his victory over Al Gonzales 6-1, 6-1. Burda improved his overall mark on the season to 9-9, which includes a 6-3 record at number four.

Freshman Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont), who holds the best singles record on the team, defeated Nathan Howze 6-1, 6-0 at number five. Bienia is 3-2 at that position and 11-7 overall.

Finally, at number six, junior Andrew Reid (Natick, MA/Rivers School) played and won his first scoring singles match of the year, a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Jason Lemberg.

Sophomore Gabe Beauchamp (Brossard, Quebec/Mt. Hermon School) and senior Andrew Schuman (San Francisco, CA/Lawrence Academy) teamed up for an 8-4 victory at number one doubles. At number two, Sandner and Burda won 8-2 to improve their record to 8-7. Bienia and Reid were partners for the first time all year at number three and prevailed 8-2.

This weekend (April 26-27) the Foresters will finish their season at the Midwest Conference Championship Tournament. Tournament at each of the three doubles positions will be played on Saturday and the six singles tourneys will be on Sunday.
