April 25, 2009 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Foresters Fall at Monmouth, Win at Knox to Close out the Regular Season
Things got off to a good start for Lake Forest as the visitors won two of the three doubles matches at Monmouth. Sophomore Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and senior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) triumphed 8-6 at #2 while junior Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) and sophomore Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) prevailed 9-7 at #3. Flaksman, however, was the only Forester to come out on top in singles. He came from behind to win 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 at #2. Five of the six singles matches went three sets, including four that were won by the player who lost the first set. The other was a 7-5, 7-5 decision. Knox had just five players so Lake Forest was awarded team points at #3 doubles and #6 singles before the match began. Flaksman and Fretter won again at #2 doubles, this time by an 8-1 margin. Junior Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) prevailed 6-2, 6-3 at #1 singles and Flaksman raised his record on the year to 10-4 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #2. Fretter won both sets 6-1 at #3 and Campagna posted a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at #4. Paterakos blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #5. Lake Forest players will compete in the MWC Championship Tournament next weekend (May 2-3) in Madison, Wisconsin. Six singles tournaments will be played on Saturday and the doubles competition will occur on Sunday. Lake Forest - Monmouth Match Results
