LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College men's tennis team hosted matches for the first time in 2009 on Saturday (April 4). The Foresters were defeated 5-4 by North Central College before blanking Rockford College 9-0. The team is now 7-2 on the season. North Central raised its record to 8-5 while Rockford fell to 0-3.

Lake Forest won two of the three doubles matches against North Central. Sophomore Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and senior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) posted an 8-4 triumph at #2 while junior Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) teamed and sophomore Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) shot out their opponents 8-0 at #3.

Fretter and Paterakos were also victorious in singles play. Fretter won 6-1, 7-5 at #3 and Paterakos prevailed 7-5, 6-0 at #6.

Rockford was one player short of a full lineup so there were only two doubles matches. Forester junior Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) and freshman Jason Wiznitzer (Northbrook, Ill./Chicagoland Jewish) won 8-0 at #1 and Paterakos paired with freshman Tommy White (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) for an 8-3 win at #2.

Flaksman, Fretter, Campagna, and freshman Nick Cantor (Providence, R.I./Wheeler School) each won 6-0, 6-0 at #1 through #4 singles, respectively. Freshman Rohit Verma (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South) registered a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #5 in his collegiate debut. The Regents were forced to forfeit the point at #6 singles.

The Foresters' next match will be at the University of Chicago Wednesday afternoon (April 8) at 3:30.
