LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College men’s tennis team raised its record on the year to 14-3 with a 9-0 victory at home over Beloit College on Wednesday (April 9). The Buccaneers fell to 0-5.

The Foresters won at the top two doubles spots in the lineup and earned a point by default at #3 because Beloit had just five players available. Sophomore Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) teamed with freshman Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) for an 8-3 victory at #1 and junior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) and freshman Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) won by the same score at #2.

Lake Forest players lost to more than two games in a set at the top four positions in the singles lineup. Presman prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at #1 and Flaksman outscored his opponent at #2 6-2 in both sets. Flaksman matched Presman’s score at #3 and sophomore Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) triumphed 6-2, 6-1 at #4. Junior Ricky Galvez (Poolville, N.Y./Hamilton Central) dropped the first set 6-4 at #5 but took each of the next two 6-2. The Foresters won at #6 by default.

Lake Forest will host fellow Midwest Conference South Division member Knox College at the South Barrington Tennis Club Saturday afternoon (April 12) at 1:00. It will be the final conference match of the season for the Foresters, who are currently 2-1 in division, and a victory would likely clinch a spot for them in the four-team MWC Championship Tournament on April 25.
