WERT CAPS AN UNDEFEATED WEEKEND BY BEING NAMED AOW
Lake Forest men's tennis player Jacob Wert, a
senior from Minneapolis, MN (Blake High School), has been named the Forester
Athlete of the Week after going 2-0 in singles play and 1-0 in doubles
action over the weekend. During Lake Forest's 5-2 win over Midwest
Conference South Division foe Knox on Saturday, Wert defeated Luke Southworth
6-0, 6-3 and then teamed with Courtney Barr at No. 2 doubles to record
an 8-3 victory over Knox's Ron Hammers and Sam Tandem. On Sunday
versus another MWC South opponent, Illinois College, a match in which the
Foresters won 4-0, Wert defeated B. Piper 6-3, 6-0. Wert played out
of the No. 3 singles position at both matches. The two wins upped
Lake Forest's overall record to 5-2 and their MWC mark to 2-0.
