FORESTERS 'SINGLE OUT' MILLIKIN
After dropping the doubles point by losing two
out of the three doubles' matches, Lake Forest swept all six singles' matches
and recorded a 6-1 win over visiting Millikin on Wednesday. Millikin
is the 18th ranked team in the latest Midwest region rankings, while Lake
Forest checks in at the 14th position. The win upped the Foresters
overall record to 6-3 as they successfully rebounded from their first loss
to a Division III opponent (3-4 vs. Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday).
Juniors Dave Kelly and Shane Bell, at No.
1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, each won in three sets, with the final
set ending in 6-3 scores in both matches. Jacob Wert (No. 3), Ray
Ro (No. 4), Courtney Barr (No. 5) and Guerin Williams (No. 6) then picked
up straight set wins. Williams dropped just one game while improving
his season record to 6-2. Ro's team-leading record improved to 7-1. |
