Foresters Fall at Ripon in Season Opener
Team also competes in Doubles Tournament

  

RIPON, WI - The Lake Forest College men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision in its season opener at Ripon College on Friday (February 11). The squad also competed in the Ripon Invitational Doubles Tournament on Saturday (February 12).

Sophomore Alex Godin (Northbrook, IL/Glenbrook North) put up the toughest fight in the match against Ripon, falling 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at number three singles. He also teamed up with senior Alex Pukshansky (Buffalo Grove, IL/Stevenson) at number two doubles and fell 8-5.

Juniors Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) and Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) lost a pair of close matches in Saturday’s doubles tourney. The duo dropped a 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 decision in the first round and a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) decision in the consolation bracket.

The Foresters will be in action again on Saturday, March 5, at St. Norbert College and will take on the home team at 11:00 a.m. and Lawrence University at 2:00 in the afternoon.
