February 12, 2006 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Foresters Compete in Ripon Doubles Tourney, Fall to Red Hawks in Dual Each of the two flights in the doubles tourney consisted of two teams from each of the four schools participating. Lake Forest’s only opening round victory came from its number three team of freshmen Andi Keca (Bloomingdale, IL/Addison Trail) and Will Hiemenz (St. Louis, MO/Chaminade), who defeated Concordia University’s number four team 6-3, 6-4. The only other victory on the day was by the Foresters’ top team in Flight 1’s playbacks, where freshman Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, IL/Deerfield) partnered with senior Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) for a 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-1) triumph against Concordia’s number two team. Hiemenz came away with two more victories on Sunday. He and Keca recorded an 8-3 win at number three doubles and he knocked off his opponent at number six singles 6-2, 6-0. Lake Forest also scored at number three singles, where senior Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) won in a tie-break 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7), and at number five singles, where sophomore Tim Tierney (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) prevailed 6-0, 6-2. After nearly three weeks off from competition, the Foresters will be in action again on Saturday, March 4, at Concordia University (WI). Lake Forest will take on UW-La Crosse, who also competed in Saturday’s doubles tournament, at 3:00 that afternoon and the hosts afterwards.
