February 14, 2009 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Foresters Start 2009 with Victories over Lakeland and Lawrence
Lake Forest swept the three doubles matches against Lakeland. Senior Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) and junior Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) blanked their opponents 8-0 at #1, as did senior Ricky Galvez (Poolville, N.Y./Hamilton Central) and freshman Jason Wiznitzer (Northbrook, Ill./Chicagoland Jewish) at #3. Sophomore Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and senior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) won 8-2 at #2. Presman prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at #2 singles and Flaksman triumphed 6-0, 6-1 at #3. Fretter, junior Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick), and freshman Nick Cantor (Providence, R.I./Wheeler School) posted 6-0, 6-0 victories at #4, #5, and #6, respectively. Flaksman and Fretter defeated Lawrence's #2 doubles team 8-3 and Campagna teamed with sophomore Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) for an 8-5 triumph at #3, giving the Foresters a 2-1 advantage after double play. The teams split the six singles matches. Presman outlasted the Vikings' #2 player 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in the closest match of the contest. Flaksman finished the day 4-0 in singles and doubles combined after winning 6-1, 6-3 at #3. Campagna was 3-for-3 on the day after registering a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory at #5. The Foresters will also play a pair of matches next Saturday afternoon (February 21) at Concordia University Wisconsin.
