Foresters Begin 2008 Season with 8-1 Victory at Marian
Rocky Tektumanidze and Alex Presman each win twice

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Lake Forest College men’s tennis team opened the 2008 season with an 8-1 victory at Marian College Sunday morning (February 17). The Foresters’ scheduled match against the University of Dubuque at Marian was canceled.

The Foresters claimed two of the three doubles points, although the victory at #3 was by default. At #1 junior Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) and sophomore Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) knocked off the Sabre’s best pair 8-1.

Tektumanidze also posted a convincing 6-1, 6-0 triumph at the top spot in the singles lineup and Presman won 6-3, 6-1 at #2. Freshmen Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Elliot Muth (New York, N.Y./Hill School) debuted with victories at #3 and #4 singles, respectively. The score in Flaksman’s match was 6-1, 6-0 and Muth, along with junior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) at #5 singles, did not surrender a game. Marian did not have a sixth singles player.

Lake Forest will be in action again next Saturday (February 23) at Concordia University Wisconsin. The Foresters are scheduled to take on the hosts at 1:00 in the afternoon and Milwaukee School of Engineering two hours later.
