Lake Forest Records First Victory of the Season 
Chris Kane gets first win as coach of the Foresters
  

Luke Figora won both his singles and doubles matches against North Central.
NAPERVILLE, IL - After being swept by the University of St. Francis in Friday's (February 28) early match, the Forester men's tennis team recorded its first victory of the 2003 season, a 5-2 decision at North Central College. The win lifts Lake Forest's record on the year to 1-2. St. Francis is now 2-1 and it was the season opener for North Central.

Sophomore Gabe Beauchamp (Brossard, Quebec/Mt. Hermon School) won his first singles match of the season at number one, defeating North Central's Chris Harley 6-1, 6-4. Senior Andrew Schuman (San Francisco, CA/Lawrence Academy) also got his first singles victory of the year, winning 6-0, 6-2 at number four.

Freshman Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) and junior Luke Figora (Yorkville, IL/Yorkville) both moved to 2-1 on the season in singles play. Bienia won 6-0, 6-1 at number five and Figora took a 6-2, 6-0 decision at number six.

In doubles play, freshmen Rob Burda (Meridian, ID/Meridian) and Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) won 8-2 at number two and Bienia and Figora teamed up for an 8-5 victory at number three.

The Foresters' next four matches will be played in Phoenix, Arizona during Spring Break (March 8-16). The team's first match after classes resume will not be until a March 28 contest at Carroll College.
