SHANE BELL NAMED TO GTE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

Lake Forest senior Shane Bell, a men's tennis player from Scarborough, Ontario, was named to the GTE Academic All-District Five Team. He is a member of the Spring At-Large College Division unit, which is comprised of student-athletes from NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA schools located in Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Indiana.

Bell, a 1999 Second Team Academic All-American, is now eligible for 2000 Academic All-American honors.

Bell is a three-time Academic All-Midwest Conference selection (1998, 1999, and 2000) and compiled a 59-17 career singles record, including a 15-6 mark this season. He played the vast majority of his matches at the No. 2 position. Bell won a conference championship in 1999 at No. 3 doubles and helped the Foresters to the team conference championship in the same year.
