Foresters 5-0 after Victories over Lakeland and Lawrence
Team will travel to St. Norbert on Saturday, California on Sunday

APPLETON, Wis. - The Lake Forest College men’s tennis team won a pair of matches at Lawrence University on Saturday (March 1), blanking Lakeland College 9-0 and edging out the hosts 5-4. The Foresters are now 5-0 on the season.

Lakeland had just five players so only the top two doubles matches were contested. Junior Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) and sophomore Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) won 8-1 at #1 and junior Ricky Galvez (Poolville, N.Y./Hamilton Central) teamed with sophomore Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) for an 8-0 victory at #2.

Tektumanidze prevailed 6-1, 7-5 at the top spot in the singles lineup. Presman and freshmen Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North), Elliot Muth (New York, N.Y./Hill School), and Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) each won 6-0, 6-0 at #2 through #5, respectively.

Lawrence took the early lead with victories at #1 and #2 doubles. Campagna and junior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) pulled out a 9-8 (7-1) triumph at #3.

Flaksman prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at #3 singles and Muth won 6-2, 6-4 at #4. Fretter defeated the Vikings’ #5 player 6-2, 6-0 and Campagna recorded a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #6.

The Foresters will travel to St. Norbert College next Saturday (March 8) for an 11:00 a.m. match against the Green Knights. The next day the team will fly to southern California and take on La Sierra University at 2:00 PST. Other spring break matches will be played at California Institute of Technology on Tuesday (March 11), University of La Verne on Wednesday (March 12), and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday (March 14).
