Jon Flaksman Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Freshman is now 9-0 at #3 singles this season

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College men’s tennis player Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (March 13) for his performance in four matches during a five-day span.

Flaksman began the week by helping lead Lake Forest to a 7-2 victory at St. Norbert College on Saturday (March 8). He won 7-5, 6-4 at #3 singles and teamed with sophomore Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) for a 9-7 triumph at #2 doubles.

The next day he prevailed 6-2, 6-3 in singles but he and Fretter were defeated 8-5 in doubles during a 5-4 loss at La Sierra University in Riverside, California.

After a day off , the Foresters won 5-2 at California Institute of Technology on Tuesday (March 11). Flaksman prevailed 6-2, 6-2 in singles and his doubles match was canceled due to darkness.

Finally, in a 5-4 victory at the University of La Verne on Wednesday (March 12), Flaksman won his singles match 6-4, 6-1 and posted an 8-5 triumph in doubles.

The freshman is now 9-0 on the year in singles and 4-2 in doubles play.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
