March 16, 2006 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Foresters Battle Through Tough Spring Break Trip to Orlando
Freshman Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, IL/Deerfield) prevailed in each of his five singles matches at the team’s top spot in the lineup. He was also 2-3 in doubles play. Freshman Will Hiemenz (St. Louis, MO/Chaminade) posted a 3-1 record on the week at number four singles. His only loss came against Albion on Thursday. Senior Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) accounted for the team’s other point against Millsaps with a victory at number three singles and classmate Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) earned a point won his match at number five singles against Springfield. The only other singles victory of the week came during the unfinished Connecticut College match where sophomore Tim Tierney (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) prevailed at number six. Bienia was Tektumanidze’s doubles partner for their two victories at the number two spot in the lineup. Hiemenz and senior Rob Burda (Meridian, ID/Meridian) also recorded a win at the number three position against Springfield. The Foresters’ next action will occur next weekend (March 25-26) when the team travels to Lawrence University and Marian College on Saturday and hosts Lakeland College on Sunday.
