Foresters Defeated by Beloit and Concordia
Pukshansky and Otto win both doubles matches

WEST BEND, WI - Lake Forest College men’s tennis team traveled to West Bend, Wisconsin, to take on host Concordia University (WI) and Beloit College Saturday (March 19) evening. The Foresters were defeated 5-2 by Concordia and 6-1 by the Buccaneers and are now 0-5 on the season.

Lake Forest took the early lead by claiming two of the three doubles matches against Concordia. Juniors Rob Burda (Meridian, ID/Meridian) and Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) outlasted their opponents for a 9-7 victory at number two and the number three team of senior Alex Pukshansky (Buffalo Grove, IL/Stevenson) and freshman Dan Otto (Austin, TX/St. Stephens) prevailed 8-0.

Otto was the only Forester to win in singles play. He triumphed 6-4, 7-5 at number five.

Pukshansky and Otto claimed victory again at number three doubles in the second match of the night. They defeated their Beloit counterparts 8-2.

Freshman Brayton Groth’s (Bloomfield Hill, MI/Cranbrook Kingswood) 6-3, 7-5 win at number six singles accounted for Lake Forest’s only team point of the contest.

The Foresters will be in action again on Saturday, April 2, at Grinnell College. Lake Forest will take on the hosts at 9:00 a.m. and Illinois College at 12:00 p.m. Both matches will count in the Midwest Conference South Division standings.
