Lake Forest Splits Pair of MWC South Division Matches
Foresters defeat Illinois College, fall to Grinnell

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Forester men's tennis team played for the first time in a month Saturday (March 28), winning 9-0 at Illinois College and falling by the same score to Grinnell College. They were Lake Forest's first Midwest Conference South Division matches of the season and the team is now 6-1 overall. Illinois College fell to 0-2 and Grinnell raised its record to 9-6.

Illinois College had just four players so the home team was forced to forfeit at #3 doubles and #5 and #6 singles.

Forester junior Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) and freshman Jason Wiznitzer (Northbrook, Ill./Chicagoland Jewish) won 8-4 at #1 doubles and freshmen Tommy White (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) and Nick Cantor (Providence, R.I./Wheeler School) prevailed 8-1 at #2. It was the collegiate debut for White and the first doubles match of the year for Cantor.

Presman was also victorious at the top spot in the singles lineup and sophomore Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) triumphed 6-1, 6-0 at #2. Senior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) recorded a 6-4, 6-4 victory at #3 and junior Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #4.

Grinnell won all three doubles matches and at each of the six spots in the singles lineup. The closest match came at #3 doubles where Campagna and sophomore Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) fell 8-6.

Lake Forest's matches on Sunday (March 29) against visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College and Ripon College have already been postponed and have yet to be re-scheduled. The Foresters will host North Central College and Rockford College next Saturday (April 4) at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively.
