March 9, 2008 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Lake Forest Splits Pair of Weekend Matches More than 1,700 Miles Apart
Lake Forest won two of the three doubles matches at St. Norbert. Freshman Jon Flaksman (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and junior Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) defeated the Green Knights’ #2 team 9-7 while sophomore Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./ Fenwick) teamed up with freshman Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) for a narrow 9-8 (7-5) victory at #3. The Foresters followed with wins at all but one spot in the singles lineup. Junior Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) won 6-2, 6-0 at #1 and sophomore Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) prevailed 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 at #2. Flaksman recorded a 7-5, 6-4 victory at #3 and Fretter edged out his opponent 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) at #4. Paterakos outscored St. Norbert’s #6 player 6-3 in both sets. Campagna and Paterakos posted an 8-0 triumph at #3 for the team’s only doubles win at La Sierra. Flaksman (7-0), Fretter (6-0), and Paterakos (3-0) preserved their perfect singles records on the year with victories at #3, #4, and #6, respectively. Flaksman won 6-2, 6-3 and Fretter and Paterakos each prevailed 6-1, 6-0. The Foresters will continue their spring break trip to southern California Tuesday afternoon (March 11) at 4:30 with a match at California Institute of Technology. The team will also play at the University of La Verne the following day at 4:00 p.m. before concluding the trip at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Friday morning (March 14) at 9:00.
