BELL LEADS LF VS. TWO DIVISION I, ONE DIVISION III FOE IN AZ
The Forester men's tennis team continued their much anticipated 1999 season with a win over NCAA Division III foe Albion before running into two DI buzz-saws - Quinnipiac and Radford on their Spring Break trip to Glendale, Arizona.  Shane Bell, playing from the No. 2 singles position and teaming with Dave Kelly to form the No. 1 doubles team, paced the Foresters with a 2-1 record in both singles and doubles.  The combo of Bell and Kelly suffered their only loss at the hands of DI Radford and they defeated DI Quinnipiac 8-1 and DIII Albion by identical 8-1 scores.
Versus Albion, with the exception of No. 1 singles (in which Kelly was defeated by Karim Jina 6-2, 6-3) the Foresters won every match in straight sets and recorded a 6-1 win.  Ray Ro at No. 4 singles dropped just two games during his singles match and the Foresters won the doubles matches by a combined 24-5 score.
The Foresters narrowly missed pulling off the upset of Quinnipiac just one day after their win over Albion.  Lake Forest used singles victories by Bell at No. 2 (6-4, 6-2), Ro at No. 4 (6-1, 6-4) and Guerin Williams at No. 6 (6-3, 6-2) to split in singles play, but managed just an 8-1 victory by Kelly and Bell in doubles play and dropped the match
4-3.
On Friday, the Foresters found themselves overmatched versus Radford.  Each singles competitor was defeated in straight sets and all three doubles teams were defeated by 8-2 scores.
Lake Forest's overall record now stands at 3-2 (3-0 vs. DIII opponents).
