Dan Otto Named Forester Athlete of the Week for Second Time This Year
Freshman fared well at Midwest Conference Tournament

  

Dan Otto led the team in singles victories this season.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College men’s tennis player Dan Otto (Austin, TX/St. Stephens) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (May 5) for his performance at the Midwest Conference Tournament over the weekend (April 30-May 1).

Otto lost 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 in the quarterfinals at number five singles before recording 10-6 and 10-8 victories to claim the consolation title. He finished the 2005 season with a team-high .600 winning percentage in singles play.

Otto teamed with fellow freshman Brayton Groth (Bloomfield Hill, MI/Cranbrook Kingswood) at number three doubles. The duo defeated their Lawrence University counterparts 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, 6-1 in round one and their foes from Monmouth College 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. They finally fell 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals to the eventual conference champions from Grinnell College.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Otto also received the award on March 24.
