John Adams Named Forester Athlete of the Week for the Second Time this Year
Freshmen captured a conference championship at #3 singles

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College men’s tennis player John Adams (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (May 6) for his performance at the Midwest Conference Championships the previous weekend (April 30-May 2).

Adams, a freshman, helped Lake Forest place second in Friday’s MWC Team Championship Tourney. He won 8-5 at #3 doubles and 6-3, 6-2 at #3 singles in the team’s 5-1 victory over Lawrence University in the semifinals. He was defeated 9-7 in doubles in the team’s 5-0 loss to Grinnell College in the title match.

The league’s singles tournaments were played on Saturday and the doubles on Sunday. Adams claimed the conference title at #3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals, and 6-2, 6-2 in the championship match. He and fellow freshman Kevin Lasky were the runners-up at #3 doubles. They prevailed 6-0, 6-1 in the quarterfinals and 6-4, 7-6 in the semifinals before falling 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

Adams set single-season program records with 25 singles wins and 44 victories overall in 2010.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. He also earned the award on April 8.
