Chris Kane Named Men's Tennis Coach at Lake Forest College
Attorney has had success as both a player and coach

New Head Men's Tennis
Coach Chris Kane.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College Athletic Director Jackie Slaats has announced that Chris Kane will assume the position of Head Men's Tennis Coach, effective immediately. The hiring fills the vacancy created when former Head Coach Chad Eisele relinquished the position to focus on his head coaching position with the Forester football team.

Kane's list of notable accomplishments in the tennis arena includes three U.S. Tennis Championships, 15 various state titles, a top-10 national ranking as a junior tennis player, a California State High School Championship and a collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame, where he held the team's #1 singles and doubles positions.

Despite opening a successful Chicago law firm and later his own private law practice in Barrington, Illinois, Kane has maintained a strong connection to the tennis world in both playing and coaching capacities. He was the head coach of the Dominican University women's team from 1981 to 1983. Despite the squad having never won a match prior to his arrival, the team tied for the state NAIA Championship and one member qualified for the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 1983. As a player, Kane continues to succeed to this day. He achieved a #6 age group ranking in the Midwest Section of the United States Tennis Association in 2000 and has been ranked #1 and #3 in the Chicago District Father/Daughter Doubles category the last two years.

"We're thrilled to have someone with Coach Kane's credentials at the helm of our men's tennis program," Slaats commented. "I am confident that he has the coaching knowledge and vision necessary to make Lake Forest tennis one of the premier programs in the Midwest and nationally. I also look for Coach Kane to be a very effective recruiter."

In response to his selection, Kane commented about his new position. "I am excited about the future here at Lake Forest," he stated. "The experience here is obviously a great product to offer young men and I anticipate a swift and significant improvement in the program. We hope to be successful year after year at both the conference and national levels."

If his past is any indication of things to come, the Lake Forest College men's tennis program has a very bright future with Coach Kane in charge.
