Peter John Bussone '48
Growing up in Ishpeming, Michigan, Peter was an outstanding basketball and football player at Ishpeming High School, where he earned three varsity letters in each sport.

He entered Lake Forest College in 1940, earning freshman numerals in football and basketball and a varsity letter in baseball.  At the start of World War II, Pete was called into the naval service and saw extensive time in the Pacific theatre.  Discharged in 1945, he returned to Lake Forest and earned nine varsity letters, three each in football, basketball and baseball.  He was elected baseball captain three consecutive years and led the team in batting two years.  A history major, he also served as president of Digamma Alpha Upsilon, the Letterman's Club and student council.

Following graduation Pete remained at the college for three years (1948-51) as an assistant coach in football, basketball and baseball.  He then served one year as the Alumni Publicity Director.  In 1952 he left the college to begin a twenty-five year career as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  He continued his interest in athletics by participating in amateur golf events, winning the Deerpath Golf Championship in 1961 and again in 1974.
