Peter B. Mayer '30
Growing up in Forest Park, Illinois, Peter attended Proviso High School where he participated in football, basketball and baseball.

He entered Lake Forest in 1926 and went on to earn eight varsity letters, four each in football and baseball.  Co-captain of the football team his senior year, he was the recipient of first Clayton Mark Trophy for the Most Valuable Player in football.  The starting pitcher for the baseball team, Peter was also a member of Phi Pi Epsilon and the Prom Committee.

Graduating with a history degree, he was offered a contract by the Chicago Cubs but decided not to play for the team.  He moved to the Pittsburgh area and became head of athletics at a Settlement House, which was a facility for underprivileged children.  He and his wife Ruth Adams '31 eventually moved to Tucson, Arizona and Peter became co-owner of Tallow Company with fellow alumnus John Hall.  After he retired, he and his wife traveled extensively around the world, visiting the Orient, South Africa, Russia and many other places.
