Inducted 1978 Growing up in Fairbault, Minnesota, Rob attended The Choate School (Connecticut) and participated all four years in soccer, hockey and track. He captained the hockey team his senior year and set the school's hurdles record. He entered Lake Forest in 1963 and earned four varsity letters in both soccer and hockey. Rob, a sociology major, was selected soccer Most Valuable Player his senior year, set the school single season scoring record with 18 goals (5 in one game) and earned All Mid-East NCAA and NAIA All-America honors. Three years during his career, the soccer team reached the NCAA regional finals. He was also elected captain of the hockey team as a senior. Following graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in Germany with the Paratroops. After his discharge from active service, he entered the computer industry with Digital Equipment Corporation, where he served as the Vice President of Human Resources Services Division. He continued his athletic interests by coaching youth soccer, playing amateur hockey and completing the Boston Marathon six times.
