Robert F. Craig '62
Bob Craig grew up in Libertyville, Illinois, and attended Libertyville High School. In the fall of 1957, the Chicago Tribune tabbed him an All-North Suburban Conference selection in football.

Craig began his Lake Forest College career in the fall of 1958 and lettered four times in football and three in track. While he was selected as the football team's Most Valuable Player as a senior in 1961, his greatest feats as a Forester were on the track. He placed fifth at the College Conference of Illinois Championship Meet in both the 100-yard dash and the 220-yard dash as a freshman in 1959. In 1960, he set conference records while winning both the 100-yard dash and the 220-yard low hurdles. He repeated as 100-yard dash champion in 1961 and placed fifth in both the 220-yard dash and 220-yard low hurdles. Due to a serious back injury he suffered during the football season, he was unable to compete in track as a senior.

While at Lake Forest, Bob was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

During his professional career, Craig was a vice president of operations for a major airline before resigning from the industry to spend time with his son. Later, he went into business for himself as a printing salesman.

He lists running the 100-yard dash against Olympians Ira Murchison and Ralph Boston as his greatest lifetime achievement.
