Inducted 1998 Growing up in Katonah, New York, Sandy attended Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut. She competed in field hockey, volleyball and softball and was captain of all three teams her senior year. Entering Lake Forest College in 1980, Sandy played field hockey and handball for four years and softball for three years. During her intercollegiate career, she was captain of the field hockey team in her senior season and also won the "B" singles collegiate handball title, the first Forester woman handball player to win a national championship. A member of General Assembly and chairperson of the Ra Committee, Sandy also participated in the concert choir and was an admissions ambassador. Graduating in 1984 with a double major in Educations and Psychology, Sandy accepted a teaching position in the Boston area. After several years in education, she went to work for the Outward Bound before deciding on a career change in executive placement. A class agent to her alma mater, Westover School, Sandy also played an active role with the Children's Discover Museum in Acton, MA and is very active with the Children's Acton Discovery Museum. Sandy has remained active in athletics. She competed in six marathons, including three Boston Marathons and completed three Outward Bound courses: mountaineering, rock climbing, and sailing. Sandy has also had a successful career as a squash player. From 1992-94, she was ranked #2 in Massachusetts and won many local tournaments at Level B. In 1995, she was ranked #5 in the state at Level A.
