LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College softball player Jill Pfund (Morenci, Mich./Morenci) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (April 10) for her performance in doubleheader sweeps at Illinois College and Monmouth College the previous weekend (April 5-6).

Pfund started the weekend by setting school records with three home runs and 12 total bases in the team’s 12-2 victory in the opener at Illinois College. Her first homer was a solo shot and the other two came with a runner on base, giving her five RBI in the contest. She also had one of the Foresters’ four base hits as they prevailed 2-1 in game two.

On Sunday the sophomore catcher went 0-for-2 but drove in a run on a bases-loaded walk in Lake Forest’s 6-5 victory in game one over Monmouth. She was 2-for-4 in the second game, a 13-6 Forester win, and added a run scored and one batted in during the decisive seven-run third inning.

Pfund batted .462 (6-for-13) on the weekend with seven RBI and a 1.154 slugging percentage. She is now hitting .386 this season, leads the squad with six home runs, and is tied for the team lead with 20 RBI, seven more than she had all of last season.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Pfund was also named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday.
