Chris Laurine Named MWC Player of the Week and Forester Athlete of the Week

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College softball player Chris Laurine (Richmond, IL/Richmond-Burton) was named Midwest Conference South Division Player of the Week and Forester Athlete of the Week for her performance in the Foresters' first conference doubleheader of the 2002 season.

Laurine was 5-for-7 at the plate in the two games, leading Lake Forest to a 10-1 and 11-0 sweep of Illinois College. Her five hits included a double and four singles. In game one the right fielder accounted for four Forester runs, scoring twice and connecting on two RBI singles. She was 2-for-2 with a walk in game two, scored twice and added one RBI. For the season Laurine leads the team in runs scored (8) and is second with four doubles.

The Midwest Conference Player of the Week is chosen by the league's sports information directors and the Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
