Leigh Anne Furgerson Named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week
Senior records first career no-hitter and 200th strikeout

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College softball player Leigh Anne Furgerson (Carmel, IN/Westfield) was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week Tuesday (April 13) for her performance in the pitcher’s circle in three games last week.

On Tuesday (April 6), Furgerson recorded her first career no-hitter against Benedictine University. She struck out six batters and walked a pair in seven innings to give the Foresters a 3-0 victory. The senior also notched her 200th career strikeout in the game.

In Midwest Conference road games over the weekend (April 9-10), Furgerson pitched game one in each doubleheader at Illinois College and Monmouth College. She guided the Foresters to two more victories, putting them in first place in the league’s South Division standings. Furgerson struck out three batters and allowed six base hits in seven innings in an 8-3 victory at Illinois College. The following day she struck out seven in a five-inning, one-hit shutout (8-0) against Monmouth. It was the fourth one-hitter and 11th complete-game shutout of her career.

Furgerson’s ERA stood at 0.74 for the week and she improved her overall record to 8-2.
