Foresters Earn a Split With North Central in Home Opener
Koludrovic extends hitting streak to nine games

Tina Koludrovic leads the team with a .368 average and has a nine-game hitting streak.
LAKE FOREST, IL - After foul weather postponed the Lake Forest College softball team's home opener three times, sunny skies finally prevailed and the squad played in front of the home crowd for the first time this season on Monday (April 15th). The Foresters hosted North Central College, who was listed 10th in the nation in the latest (April 3rd) coaches poll conducted by USA Today and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. After falling 1-0 in the opener, the Foresters claimed a 4-1 victory in game two.

Nancy Findeisen (Beecher, IL/ Beecher) was the hard-luck losing pitcher in the first game of the doubleheader, despite allowing just one run on six North Central hits while striking out five. Her record on the season falls to 6-4 and her earned run average remains an impressive 0.73.

Junior third baseman Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Granite City) had two of Lake Forest's four hits.

In the second game of the day, Leigh Anne Furgerson (Carmel, IN/Westfield) continued her recent trend of dominant pitching, allowing an unearned run and only three hits. In her last four appearances, the sophomore is 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA and has given up just nine hits in 20 innings while striking out 11 and not walking a single batter.

The Cardinals' run came in the top of the first inning. Lake Forest finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third when, with the bases loaded and two outs, Slater drove in a pair of runs with a single and advanced to second on the throw. Senior catcher Jenn Reifenberg (Skokie, IL/Niles West) followed with her team-leading eighth double of the year to bring in the team's other two runs.

Freshman leadoff hitter Alissa Mildebrath (Skokie, IL/Niles West) had a pair of the Foresters' five hits in the game to raise her batting average on the year to .324, the second-highest mark on the squad. Shortstop Tina Koludrovic (Darien, IL/Downers Grove South), another freshman, went 1-for-2 to extend her hitting streak to nine games and raise her team-leading average to .368.

Lake Forest (13-8, 6-1 MWC) will host Aurora University in another non-conference doubleheader on Friday (April 19th) at 3:00 PM. The Foresters will resume Midwest Conference play on Saturday (April 20th) when they travel to Monmouth College, who is currently 4-1 in league play.
