Kristen Feeney Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Junior raised her batting average to .412 as Foresters went 6-0

Five of Kristen Feeney's eleven hits went for extra bases.
LAKE FOREST, IL - After batting .524 for the week and extending her hitting streak to seven games, Lake Forest College softball player Kristen Feeney (Brookfield, IL/Lyons Township) was named Forester Athlete of the Week. She led her team to six wins, four over Midwest Conference opponents, by going 11-for-21 with four doubles and a triple. The junior third baseman/outfielder knocked in eight runs, scored another six and added two stolen bases.

Feeney had two hits in five of the six contests and two of her eleven were game-winners for Lake Forest. In the second game of a doubleheader against Illinois College Friday (April 9), her two-out double in the bottom of the eighth inning scored two runs to erase a 3-2 deficit.

In game one on Wednesday (April 14), a 4-3 non-conference victory at Aurora University, the Foresters were down 1-0 after four innings. The visitors had already tallied two in the top of the fifth when, with two outs and runners on first and third, Feeney belted a triple to deep left center to plate two more. They would prove to be the deciding runs as the Spartans went on to score two in the bottom of the frame.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
