Foresters Fall to Robert Morris in High-Scoring Affair
Hannah Michal homers and extends hitting streak to 11 games

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College softball team fell 12-11 to visiting Robert Morris College Wednesday (April 18) evening. The Foresters are now 11-11 on the season while the Eagles raised their record to 15-11.

Freshman shortstop Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) was 3-for-4 in the contest with two runs scored and three driven in. Senior designated player Erin Watts (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) singled in both of her plate appearances and drove in four runs, raising her school record for career RBI to 106. Sophomore centerfielder Hannah Michal (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake) was 2-for-3 with a home run, her second of the season, and three runs scored. She extended her hitting streak to 11 games, junior leftfielder Christy Condon (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) has at least one base hit in the last 10, and freshman third baseman Mallory Norton (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) has hit safely in nine consecutive contests.

Robert Morris plated eight runs in the top of the first inning. The Foresters quickly tied the score with four in both the first and second frames. After the Eagles pulled ahead again with a run in the top of the third, the home team took the lead with two in the bottom half of the inning. Lake Forest added a run in the fifth inning but surrendered three in the seventh to close out the scoring.

The Foresters’ doubleheader at North Central College, originally scheduled for last Thursday (April 12), has been re-scheduled for this Friday (April 20) at 3:00 p.m. Lake Forest is in first place in the Midwest Conference’s South Division and will put their 6-1 league record on the line in a doubleheader at home against Monmouth College Saturday (April 21) afternoon at 1:00.
