The two teams combined for just seven base hits in game one. The contest's only runs scored in the top of the second inning on a pair of infield singles, a couple of walks, and a hit-by-pitch. The Foresters' three base hits were registered by freshman designated player Melissa Wegner (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech), sophomore shortstop Tina Koludrovic (Darien, IL/Downers Grove South), and sophomore second baseman Alissa Mildebrath (Carol Stream, IL/West Chicago). Lake Forest left eight runners on base in the game while Chicago stranded seven. In game two, Chicago struck first with two runs in the top of the fourth inning when the visitors got a leadoff infield single and then took advantage of a pair of Forester errors. The Maroons got one more in the top of the sixth on a bunt single, a sacrifice, and a base hit up the middle. Lake Forest finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth. Senior second baseman Megan Gibson (Brown Deer, WI/Brown Deer) led off with a double to left center and advanced to third on an error by the center fielder. Gibson scored and Koludrovic reached third on an error by the right fielder. Koludrovic then scored two batters later on a passed ball. Chicago plated two more runs in the seventh on four base hits to put the game out of reach. Gibson had a pair of doubles in the game. Koludrovic and Mildebrath each had one of the team's other three base hits to extend their hitting streaks to 16 and 15 games, respectively. Junior left fielder Carly Gilbert (Berthound, CO/Westminster) also singled in the game. The Foresters, who are 6-1 in Midwest Conference play, will host Illinois College (9-14-1, 0-5 MWC) Thursday (April 24) afternoon at 3:00. Lake Forest will play at Grinnell College on Friday (April 25) and will complete its regular season schedule on Saturday (April 26) at Knox College.
