Leigh Anne Furgerson Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Pitcher was 3-0 and extended her consecutive wins streak to seven

Leigh Anne Furgerson pitched three complete-game wins as the Foresters went 5-1.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College softball player Leigh Anne Furgerson (Carmel, IN / Westfield) was named Forester Athlete of the Week after earning three wins on the mound, including a key conference victory over Monmouth College. The sophomore pitcher went the distance in all three games, recording 15 strikeouts and just three walks. Her earned run average for the week was 2.33.

In both non-conference games -- versus Aurora University and the University of Chicago -- Furgerson allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, good enough for matching 5-4 wins. Her best performance, though, was the 2-1 win over Monmouth, which allowed the Foresters to remain atop the Midwest Conference South Division standings. She scattered six hits, struck out four and didn't walk a batter while allowing just one unearned run. Furgerson is now 8-3 this season with a 1.66 ERA. In her 12 appearances and 67.2 innings pitched, opponents are batting .249 against her.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
