Mallory Norton Repeats as Forester Athlete of the Week
Freshman batted .650 with six doubles in as many games

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College softball player Mallory Norton (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (April 26) for her performance in the team’s six games during the previous six days.

Norton, a freshman third baseman, was 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run batted in as Lake Forest fell 6-2 in the second game of Friday’s (April 20) doubleheader at North Central College. She had been 0-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt in the team’s 8-7 victory in the opener.

The Foresters swept their only Midwest Conference doubleheader of the week on Saturday, wining the opener 8-4 and game two 17-5. Norton batted 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, a run scored and two driven in during game one. She was 2-for-3 with another runs scored and a pair of RBI in game two.

Lake Forest was swept 4-3 and 7-4 on Tuesday (April 24). Norton had another double and a run scored in three at bats in the opener and was 3-for-3 with run scored and her sixth double of the week in game two.

Norton has raised her batting average on the year to .420 by hitting .650 on the week and .581 (25-for-43) in her last 13 games. She has 13 doubles on the year, just two shy of the single-season school record.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Norton also earned the award last week.
