Kristen Feeney Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Junior belted a grand slam and knocked in six runs

Kristen Feeney led the MWC with 14 RBI in 13 conference games this season.
LAKE FOREST, IL - For the second time in three weeks Lake Forest College softball player Kristen Feeney (Brookfield, IL/Lyons Township) was named Forester Athlete of the Week. The award came after she batted .429 and played an errorless third base in a doubleheader versus Midwest Conference opponent Knox College on Saturday (April 24).

After going hitless in a 6-3 game-one victory, Feeney exploded for three hits in four at-bats in game two. She started with an RBI single in the third inning and delivered the big blow in the fifth, a grand slam that broke open a 2-1 game. The junior also provided an insurance run with an RBI double in the seventh inning after the Prairie Fire had closed the gap to 6-4. The 7-4 triumph completed Lake Forest's 8-0 sweep of the conference's south division opponents this season.

With six runs batted in, the Foresters' leading hitter (.396) was just one short of the school record of seven in a single game. Her team-high 13th double this season tied the Lake Forest record. Feeney also leads the 2004 squad in hits (42), RBI (24), total bases (63), slugging percentage (.594) and on-base percentage (.448).

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
