Shelby Neill Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Junior batted .643 with 11 RBI in four games

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College softball player Shelby Neill (Manitou Beach, Mich./Lenawee Christian) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (April 30) for her performance in a pair of doubleheader sweeps the previous weekend (April 25-26).

Neill, a junior first baseman, was 5-for-7 with a triple and a pair of home runs as Lake Forest won 11-7 in eight innings and 11-3 in five at Grinnell College on Saturday. She scored three runs and drove in five on the day.

The Foresters prevailed 8-3 in the opener and 15-4 in five innings in game two at Knox College on Sunday. Neill homered for the fourth consecutive game in the opener, and was 4-for-7 at the plate in the two games combined. One of her hits was a double and she scored twice and drove in six runs.

Neill batted .643 with a double, triple, and three home runs on the weekend. She also scored five runs, drove in 11, and posted a 1.500 slugging percentage.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Neill also earned the award twice during the 2007 season.
