CARI POZNANSKY NAMED MWC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lake Forest's Cari Poznansky has been named the Midwest Conference South Division Softball Player of the Week.

The senior pitcher from Morton Grove, Ill., started and completed three games for Lake Forest last week, and twice got the win without allowing an earned run.

In the first half of a doubleheader with Aurora on Monday (April 3), Poznansky beat the Spartans 1-0. The former standout at Maine East High School allowed just five hits and struck out six batters, including three strikeouts in the last two innings. With the bases loaded and one out in the seventh, Poznansky forced a pop out to the pitcher and then struck out the game's final hitter to complete the win.

On Saturday (April 8) at the UW-Oshkosh Tournament, Poznansky beat Marian 3-2. She again did not allow an earned run and allowed just four hits while striking out six batters. At the plate, she went 1-for-2 with a run batted in.

The following day (April 9), still at the UW-Oshkosh Tournament, Poznansky lost a 3-2 decision to University of Chicago. She allowed six hits in six innings, striking out two, and both runs she allowed were earned. At the plate, Poznansky picked up another RBI.
