FORESTERS GO 2-1 AT RAIN-SHORTENED UW-OSHKOSH TOURNEY
The Lake Forest softball team, who has now won four of their last six games, dropped a one-run game (2-3) to host UW-Oshkosh to open this weekend's UW-Oshkosh tournament, but bounced back with a 4-3 win over UW-Superior and then a 4-0 shutout of Lawrence, the two-time defending Midwest Conference champions, on Saturday.  All of Sunday's scheduled games were cancelled due to weather.  Freshman Kate Parkinson was particularly impressive for Lake Forest.  She scattered eight hits over seven innings, while striking out three and walking none, to earn the win and Lake Forest's first shutout of the season versus Lawrence.  Despite taking the loss against UW-Oshkosh, Parkinson allowed just two hits and three runs (two earned).
Against Lawrence, the Foresters broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with one run and then broke the game open in the following inning with three runs.  Junior Karyn Leniek, sophomore Kim Magee, and sophomore Vicki DeBartolo all recorded RBIs.  Leniek and freshman Erin Valentour added two hits apiece.
Versus UW-Superior, the Foresters belted out 12 hits en route to the 4-3 victory.  LF took advantage of two Superior errors in the final inning to score the winning run.  Junior Jessie Griffin and Valentour each had three hits, while freshman Chris Laurine had two doubles and two RBIs.  Junior Cari Poznansky went the distance and notched the win for the Foresters.
In the Foresters' first game of the tournament, host Oshkosh got two runs in the eighth inning and then held on for the 3-2 win.  Parkinson allowed just two singles and walked three while taking the loss.
