GALESBURG, IL - Lake Forest College picked up seven points in the Midwest Conference South Division standings with two wins over Knox College on Saturday (April 14th) and a win and a tie versus Grinnell College the previous afternoon. All four games were on the road for Lake Forest.

In the first game against Grinnell, Leigh Anne Furgerson (Carmel, IN/Westfield) pitched a six inning, two hit gem while blanking the Pioneers, 9-0. She struck out three with no walks. Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Granite City) went three-for-three with three runs batted in and Chris Laurine (Richmond, IL/Richmond-Burton) and Megan Gibson (Brown Deer, WI/Brown Deer) each added two RBIs. The Foresters scored three times in the first inning and two more times in the third inning to jump out to an early lead.

In the second game, Grinnell scored at least one run in each of the first three innings and led 4-1 after their half of the third inning. Lake Forest tied the score with three runs in their half of the inning. Each team remained stuck on four for the next six innings and the game was eventually called due to darkness.

Furgerson pitched seven more innings without allowing an earned run as Lake Forest beat Knox, 7-2, in game one on Saturday. She scattered five hits over seven innings and Knox got two unearned runs in the second inning. Slater led a 13-hit attack for the Foresters by going four-for-four at the plate.

The Foresters took the second game, 11-4, behind 14 hits. Six different players notched two hits. Slater had three more RBIs to run her weekend total to eight.

Lake Forest, now 7-11-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the MWC South, will host University of Chicago this Wednesday (April 18th).
