April 21st, 2001 Contact: Scott Rucker, SID Lake Forest Wins Three of Five Games at MWC Classic
ROCKFORD, IL - The Lake Forest College softball team picked up three wins in five games at the Midwest Conference Classic over the weekend (April 20th-21st). The event brought together all 10 conference schools for five divisional cross-over games each. Lake Forest (12-14-1, 6-2-1 MWC) widened their MWC South Division lead with the three wins. The Foresters won more games than any other South Division school over the weekend. LF started the Classic with two wins on Friday. The Foresters pounded Beloit College, 19-4, in five innings before shutting out Ripon College, 3-0. On Saturday, the Foresters dropped a one-run contest to St. Norbert, 3-2, and then fell to Carroll College, 8-0. But Lake Forest bounced back with a 5-3 win over Lawrence University to give them a winning record for the five-game weekend. Lake Forest's next action will be this Wednesday (April 25th) when they host Beloit for a doubleheader. The two games will not count in the league standings. LF-BC Box Score
