FORESTERS CATAPULT TO THE TOP OF THE SOUTH DIVISION
After having four conference games rained out and a 13-day layoff, the Foresters went down south and swept two doubleheaders versus divisional opponents.  On Friday, Lake Forest and freshman pitcher Kate Parkinson shutout Knox 6-0 and then won 4-3 in game two.  The following day at Grinnell, the Foresters and Parkinson recorded their second shutout of the weekend, 1-0, and then came-from-behind to win the second game by a final score of 7-6 in eight innings.  The wins propelled the Foresters to the top of the MWC South standings and extended their win streak to six games.  Lake Forest is perfect in conference games at 4-0, Monmouth looms nearby at 3-1, Grinnell is 2-2, Illinois College 3-3 and Knox 0-6.
In Saturday's first game, Parkinson allowed just two hits, one walk and struck out two in the 6-0 win.  She also supplied the bulk of the offense by driving in four runs on two hits.  The Foresters scored three runs in the second inning and three more in the sixth, with Parkinson collecting two RBIs in each frame.  In the second game, Kim Magee drove in pinch runner Karla Gribble in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Foresters the 4-3 win.  Gribble pinch ran for Cari Poznansky after she singled to lead off the inning.  Karen Siska then sacrificed Gribble to second, setting up Magee's game-winning hit.  Poznansky got the win for LF by going the distance and scattering five hits, three runs (two earned), six walks and seven strikeouts.
Versus Grinnell, Parkinson picked up her third straight shutout and extended her scoreless inning streak to 21 innings.  She allowed four hits, three walks and struck out one.  Karen Siska singled home Kara Ellerby in the second inning for the only run of the game.  In the second game, the Foresters got four hits each from Ellerby and Siska and two hits, three runs and two stolen bases from Magee.  After Poznansky, who got the win, worked her way out of a jam in the top of the eighth inning and stranded Grinnell base runners on second and third base, Magee reached on an error and Ellerby doubled home the winning run.  Poznansky allowed 11 hits, six runs (four earned), two walks and struck out four.
