PARKINSON NABS HER SECOND MWC POW AWARD OF THE SEASON
Freshman pitcher Kate Parkinson, a native of St. Charles, IL (Glenbard East High School), has been selected the Midwest Conference South Division player of the week.  Parkinson ran her consecutive scoreless inning streak to 21 innings by pitching a 6-0 shutout of Knox and blanking Grinnell 1-0 over the weekend.  Versus Knox she pitched seven innings, allowed two hits, no runs, one walk, and struck out two batters.  On Sunday at Grinnell, Parkinson allowed four hits, no runs, three walks, and struck out one.  She also went three for five at the plate with one run scored, four runs batted in, one double, and one walk in the two games she appeared in.  Parkinson's two wins helped the Foresters to a 4-0 start in conference play and gave them a one-game lead with four games to play.
Parkinson's selection was her second of the season and second in the past three weeks.  Of the four player of the week awards given this season, a Lake Forest athlete has taken the award three times (Karen Siska won the first POW award).
The Midwest Conference Sports Information Directors select the conference players of the week.
