FORESTERS REMAIN ON TOP OF MWC AFTER SPLIT WITH MONMOUTH
After the dust settled from Monday's doubleheader with Monmouth, Lake Forest was still in sole possession of first place in the Midwest Conference South Division with a 5-1 mark.  Monmouth stands at 4-2.  Each team has two conference games remaining.  The Foresters will host Illinois College on Sunday.
It took the Forester bats nine innings to warm up to the pitching of Monmouth's Sherilyn Daniels.  Daniels handcuffed the Foresters in the opening game and held them to six hits and two runs.  Monmouth's 5-2 win set up a showdown for first place in the South.  Daniels held the Foresters scoreless through the first two innings on the second contest, but LF broke through in the third inning - in a big way.  The Foresters batted around in their four-run third inning, which was highlighted by a Kim Magee three-run homerun.  Monmouth battled back to within two runs heading into the final inning, but Kate Parkinson came on in relief of Cari Poznansky, who got the win, and got the final three outs, two by strikeouts.  Five Foresters tallied two hits in the 7-5 win, including Karen Siska, the only senior on the squad playing on Senior Day at Lake Forest.
In the first game, Monmouth's Jen Witmer got the Scots on the board first and snapped Forester hurler Kate Parkinson's consecutive scoreless inning streak at 22 innings.
