Lake Forest Softball Team Picked to Win MWC South Division
League's coaches tab Foresters and Monmouth as two top teams

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College and Monmouth College (IL) were picked as co-favorites to prevail in the 2001 Midwest Conference South Division softball race.

In the North Division, Carroll College (WI) finished three points ahead of last year's North title-winner, Ripon College, who was a solid second-place selection. St. Norbert College edged out Lawrence University for the third position followed by Beloit College in fifth.

The coaches couldn't pick a clear favorite in the South as defending divisional-champion Monmouth and Lake Forest finished tied for first in the voting. Grinnell College was given the nod for third place followed by Illinois College and Knox College.

Lake Forest is currently 5-11 this season. Fifteen of the final 17 games on Lake Forest's schedule are against conference schools.
