SISKA NAMED '99 SEASON'S FIRST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lake Forest's Karen Siska, a first baseman from
Evergreen Park, IL (Mother McAuley High School), has been named the Midwest
Conference South Division Player of the Week. This is the MWC's first
selection of the 1999 season and covers the entire season to date.
Siska is the only senior on this year's Forester softball team. She
appeared in 15 of the Foresters' first 16 games and collected 19 hits in
50 at bats for a .380 batting average. Siska also added eight RBIs,
three doubles and a team-high nine runs scored, while striking out just
twice. During last week's double-header sweep of Beloit, Siska had
five hits and four RBIs. One of her hits was a two-out game-tying
RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning of the first game.
